Finding accommodation from abroad

Postby jels on Fri Dec 03, 2004 8:44 am

Hi!
Two of my friends and I are studying abroad this year and were wanting to share a flat next year.
Can anyone tell us how to go about renting property from abroad?
Do we have to wait until September 2005 to find a place?
Thanks!

You might want to have a word with the new SRC Member for Absent Students. I don't have his email address here, but his name's Adrian Galy (for looking him up on Webmail). It's his job to help people in your situation out, and he's been through it himself before.

Have fun with that one, I was abroad last year and found it damn near impossible to find a flat in St Andrews unless you have a friend here to do all the running around for you. You could get in contact with uni accommodation services though, because they have uni managed flats that are a lot easier to sort out. Other than that it is very hard to find private accommodation without actually being here.

Sorry to be pessimistic but am speaking from experience here!!
