Absolute cunts

Postby Slash wannabe on Sun Dec 12, 2004 3:13 pm

Today I went to castle sands only to find it completely littered with empty cans of tennents, cheap wine and white cider.

Why do people do this? Its a fucking nice beach and some fuckers (quite possibly neds judging by the choice of alcohol) have made a huge mess.

Last night in McIntosh another group of people tried to steal our Christmas tree from the common room again and managed to break it in the process.

The other night all the posters in the front hall were torn off the wall, a pool cue and the white ball were stolen and the first attempt to steal the tree. Apparently it was a group John Burnet residents. I cant stand the thought of a hall war - its so immature and such a waste of everybodies time.

Why are people such knob jockeys?

Last year I got a sudden urge to clean the beach and posted this, (was registered as Moyersy):

http://www.thesinner.net/messageboard-v ... hread=3841

Sadly something came up, though I can't remember what, so it never happened. This year though, I feel hopeful that I may actually make it to the beach.

So, in this last week of term, with it being Christmas and all, who fancies cleaning Castle Sands? I leave on the Friday, but any day this week is probably fine. It gets dark mightily early though so I fear a piss-up may be off the cards.

Although I do feel your pain and feel sorry for what's been happening, I thought this thread was going to be a throw back to Ben Spiers.

If anything a bit cuntish happens it's always GBH (or ex-GBH) residents. I swear that as soon as they get accommodation applications, anyone that looks like a complete nutcase/hooligan gets put in John Burnet.

Rather sweeping generalisation there muffin. Also please stop calling it GBH. That's just a rather lame. Maybe JBH just takes in kids who are orphans and never had the family stability and constant love that everyone else had? Maybe they have just not been taught how to live in civilised society. Or maybe, just maybe they got drunk and thought it was a good idea at the time. Rather like the people in Chattan who thought throwing water balloons at people from the roof would be a good idea. Luckily they are miserable shots, which only goes to prove that they need more practise. Lay off JBH, I think other halls this year have been a lot worse in terms of damages and behaviour.

I thought I saw a bunch of neds behaving suspicously in Chattan on Saturday, but I wasn't paying attentation. Obviously, now that I'm aware of the situation, I will be more vigilant.

Some sort of bat and willingness to use it seems to be the best way of discouraging these invasions I find.

I hate it when people make a mess of the castle sands - it's such a nice small beach.

And yes it's perfect for bonfires and stuff but if people aren't responsible enough to clean up after themselves there then they shouldn't use it.

On the subject of ex-JBH doing cuntish things to Mcintosh I have a bad confession. Three years ago I broke into Chatten with a mate while hammered, broke a pool cue, set the fire alarm off and passed out in one of the kitchens. Sorry :(

Why be scared of the idea of a hall war. I myself have tried to start wars on previous occasions (e.g. Raisin Sunday) and never has there been any retaliation. I think wars are prosperous and serve to boost morale of an entire hall and individual self-esteem for acts done or just knowing someone who did something. Childish you may say are the actions I call for but come on guys, it's only uni it's not like we need to be totally responsible for our actions. After all we are living in hall getting our trash taken out and our meals made for us 19 times a week. So now I conclude with putting out a call/challenge to other halls, let's rock out with our cock out and break some shit.

It is generally considered a fantastic idea during the annual game of Assasin

Talking to one of our first years last night while putting the tree back together last night, i found out that they are quite taken with the idea of a hall war, and believe that retaliation should be swift.

I asked them what it would accomplish, and what the point would be.

"because it's fun!"

At this point i asked her how tidying up our common room counts as fun. How does patching up the hall christmas tree on a satureday night count as fun?

I have a version of Sunday Bloody Sunday by U2 live, where Bono does a sermon in the middle.

Now let me tell you something. I’ve had enough of Irish Americans who haven’t been back to their country in twenty or thirty years coming up to me and talking about the resistance, the revolution back home. And the glory of the revolution. And the glory of dying for the revolution.

FUCK THE REVOLUTION!

They don’t talk about the glory in killing for the revolution. What’s the glory in taking a man from his bed and gunning him down in front of his wife and his children. Where’s the glory in that?

Where’s the glory in bombing a Remembrance Day parade of old age pensioners, their medals taken out and polished up for the day. Where’s the glory in that? To leave them dying, or crippled for life, or leave them dead under the rubble of the revolution that the majority of the people in my country don’t want.

I know that inter hall rivalry is nothing compared to The Troubles. I also know that the sentiments are the same. The need for revenge. The desire to get one over on the other, or give them something to think about. And because of a few people, the majority have to put up with the mess. It isn’t the soldiers who clean up. It’s the civilians. And the soldiers, the raiding parties and the balloon throwers don’t represent all of the halls. They represent a handful of people with time on their hands and nothing to do. It’s the silent majority who have to live with the mess that these people get into because “it’s fun.” Because it’s good for self esteem to rip down the posters of several dozen societies, university bodies and charities. Because you don’t need to be totally responsible for your actions when you destroy property and make your escape through a fire exit.

Fuck the Revolution.

That came from the soul didn't it Cain? I personally don't see the problem with a little bit of a war, I think it would liven the place up a bit.

I won't have a problem reporting certain users to Residential and Business services, should any problems arise.

Comments like "It's only uni it's not like we need to be totally responsible for our actions" make me seethe.

Quoting a previous comment made by Admin; "If you have a complaint about a venue or a person, please take it up with them. Please don't use The Sinner for personal or professional disputes."

An example of a similar allegation would be; "Apparently, the residents of McIntosh are plotting to overthrow the government, and keep puppy dogs in little cages."

I have a funny feeling that this thread will be deleted, but if not (place your bets), then this sounds like a personal/collective dispute and a sweeping allegation made towards John Burnet residents, which is completely unjust and immature.

As for the comments of rubbermuffin, simply ridiculous.

I'm not going to comment on this particular problem, but in the last two years atleast JBH has been a hall full of people who like to enjoy themselves at the expense of others. I won't criticise, I myself am just as bad. It will take a long time for JBH to shake this image, and yes, this will be at the expense of current residents.

The last two years!! It has been going on a lot longer than that. I remember a friend of mine complaining about JBH SEVEN years ago.

In my experience in my four years at St A's there is a core group there every year that have no respect for anything or anyone. Fools.

He Not Busy Being Born Is Busy Dying

Postby alias on Mon Dec 13, 2004 1:28 pm

Reading the reactions to actions taken by a few enlightened members of St. Andrews society deeply saddens me. It worries me how some students (need I remind you that you should still be embracing life) feel like having a little fun at the expense of a temporary mess, is unacceptable behavior. Who do you people think you are? I hope and pray that there was at least one day or instance where you lost all inhibitions and just went for it, let it all hang out. Dylan Thomas's ideas on living, eloquently summed up in the following lines: "Do not go gentle into that good night, / Old age should burn and rave at close of day; / Rage, rage against the dying of the light," I hope imparts upon you the belief that life does not have to be lived one dying day after another, you should rage against the dying of the light! People please don't sell your-'self' short at the expense of being mature and elitist, you are not better than the members of JBH for not causing a ruckus, you are simply leading less exciting lives. That being said, you don't need to participate in 'Hall Wars" to fulfill your promise of carpe diem; however, if that is how some people want to suck the marrow out of life, then let them spend their time that way. Speaking on behalf of JBH, I invite our 'enemies' to retaliate; it's a fine day for war. Finally, remember this is all life and life only.
All the truth in the world adds up to one big lie.
