From that link:
"General Council (a) As recommended by the General Council, the Court agreed that (i) the registration fee should rise from £44 to £45 in 2005-6...and (iii) following the practice of recent years to hold the Council's statutory winter meeting furth of St Andrews around St Andrew's Day, the Council should so meet in Dundee in 2005 and in London in 2006."
Firstly, why the hell should they raise the general council membership tax, what has it done to justify more of our money, and secondly, while i agree with the idea of holding meeting around the country, WHY DUNDEE?
The General Council registration fee tends to rise by a modest amount every year, otherwise inflation would see it fall in real terms. As for Dundee, the General Council felt that there was a substantial body of alumni and alumnae in Tayside and surrounding areas who were not attending the summer meeting in St Andrews (which tends to be dominated by new graduates and residents of St Andrews) but who would attend a meeting in Dundee. There are also, of course, many alumni and alumnae who spent most of their time as students at Queen's College.
As for Rector, does anyone know if Sir Clement intends to stand again or not?
