Do you know what really fucks me off?

That I'm supposed to give a shit about who owns Manchester United. Fine, football fans might be interested, but the BBC has Malcolm Glazer's acquisition of the club as the lead story on the One O'Clock News. I DON'T CARE! I DON'T LIKE FOOTBALL!

um, it is news though. I don't like war, does that mean the BBC shouldn't report it?

It's very minor news. We didn't get this much coverage when Philip Green was trying to take over M&S. And when 10-15 minutes of every news bulleting is already sport, it's a bit much. That said, it does seem to be a bit of a slow news day - or maybe the government is busy burying bad news under cover of Mr Glazer?

Surely HM Government wouldn't stoop so low?

Oh, wait.

Personally, I don't particularly care that you don't care. However, when I arrive at the sinner, I see it as the top post.

Maybe you 'don't like football', but please accept that very many other people do, and it could have serious consequences for the Premier League.

No doubt, but placing it at the top of the news agenda forces it down other people's throats, when I contend that it should be restricted to the sports news because, hey, that's what it is. The coverage is disproportionate.

Would you want news of an impending hurricane to be confined to the weather section?

It does feel like the Man Utd take over has been top of the news for days and days now. Isn't there something more important going on in the world? A coup in Uzbekistan, anything(!) I really don't care what percentage of the shares Mr Glazer now owns. I don't need an hour by hour detailing of it.

It's not surprising really, the BBC has always had a very london-centric bias.

I hardly think thats the same thing! I do understand however why the takeover is in the main news section, as Man Utd is a huge business as well as a football club. At least it makes a change from all the bad news about killing everywhere

It's big new and many people do care about what percentage of the shares the twat owns now (me included).

Some days I will see the main news headline and not give a shit about the story but I accept that the majority of the population DO care about it and that is why it is the main headline.

Just live with it. If you're not interested then don't read the story, no one is forcing you. It's not going to last forever.

ahem. perhaps the most significant thing in the news right now is the USA\'s response to the democracy movement in Uzbekistan, amongst other things.

the significance of this is the double standards in US foreign policy towards democratization - you can only overthrow your despotic regime when we say so... Sadly, it appears that to the Washington hawks the policy of love, freedom and democracy for all, is, well, conditional to which country you are.

Not sure what this might mean in the long run though, only that the history books are gonna slate America - but of course that\'s nothing new

Steerpike, that response came out way after the lunchtime news.

This pisses me off more:

Lifted from http://www.studyabroaddirectory.com/lis ... isting/363

'Description: The University of St Andrews is the oldest university in Scotland, founded around 1402'

How hard is it to get a date right?

The majority? Really? I'd be surprised. Otherwise Match of the Day would get 30 million viewers.

I'm sorry Eliot, but please stop there.

Half of the stuff on the news about the government do this and that blah blah blah doesn't interest me in the slightest. However what we don't do is come on here and say it's shit (excuse french). Accept it for the love of god, it's news the BBC need something to report on, as I can hardly see a coup in Uzbekizstan taking up half an hr of reports.

You blabed on about the tories up until, and then after the election, especially when MrHoward said he was steping down.
