There appears to be a need for an alternative way to meeting people in St. Andrews. To start the ball rolling...

Single, shy, male science student. 21. Tall, brown hair, brown eyes. Would like to meet nice, interesting female. Preferably less hairy than myself.

Hehe, this is a good idea. Here's mine:

Short, sometimes sweet, 22yr old MLitt student, first year in St Andrews, missing old friends from 1st degree but prepared to make new ones. :) Interesting conversation & sense of the absurd essential.

P.S. Just realised that I forgot to mention being female...

Just out of interest how is this going to work?

Shall I introduce you all to each other in the Union on Friday night? :P

I'm not very good at being sarcastic when I'm writing, but I'll try anyway. Maybe people could email the lonely heart they're interested in. Just an idea, Prophet!

James, I sense a new addition to the Sinner.

By the way, it's Sgt. Pepper's.
Saki, are you looking to meet a latter-day Clovis Sangrail?

I think it's a play on words. Combining the album title with the drink. Particularly as the advertising slogan is also used.

That's alright, Prophet. We all suffer from it sometimes!

And yes, it was a play on words. I was being a bit of a smart-arse on the way back from the drinks machine last night...

So you anticipate being naked on national television after a fridge freezer accident?

The worst that could happen?

A psycho, axe wielding bunny boiler. Someone who makes me look well-balanced.

Let's all just meet at a given place and a given time and have a massive meat market. Then if we don't like what's there, we can just pretend that we accidentally stumbled into the pub unknowingly. Just not the Union, okay?
In America they think 100 years is old and in Britain they think 100 miles is far.

I'm (as of today) officially single (long distance relationships suck). So, here goes, 3rd year Economics student, 21, short brown hair, Liquor Snob, think Scottish Beer is pish.

What's wrong with the Union? I mean there aren't many other places in St. Andrews where you are going to get a decent sized group of people - possibly Gin House would be a viable alternative but the Union is always IMO neutral ground.

What's wrong with the Union? The drink is revolting. Make it the Westport.

Oh, and while I'm here:

2nd year History student, middling height, light-coloured hair, grey-green eyes, also a liquor snob, think all beer is pish.

...but doesn't even want a relationship, and so is wondering why he has posted on this thread at all.

Except to abuse the Union.

YOU again. Scottish beer is NOT pish.
I'm not even going to bother to put my description on- despite considering myself single (its more a case of laziness when it comes to dumping people, than attachment to them). And anyway, Scunthorpe will tell you all you need to know.

Scottish beer should only ever exist for one reason, and that is to be turned in to Scotch Whisky.
And Plymouth Gin is very good, and is not a brand, it's a type, like London Dry, and is only made by Coate's & Co. (For a gin to be called "Plymouth", it has to be made using water from a certain brook, and Coate's & Co. own the only access to it.)
