Welcome to the RockSoc board, it gets worse here every day... talk about RockSoc, rock music, plain rocks or other silly irrelevant drivel. All are welcome: members & non-members, of the past, present & future.

Top of the Rocks - Suggestions here!!!

Postby flossy on Tue Nov 29, 2005 9:29 pm

It's time to get your votes in, kids. This is a thread for your "top of the rocks" best songs of the past and present that you'd like played at the last rocksoc of the year.

Please no bitching or hijacking of the thread! Just tell us what you want (what you really really want).

Oh and get practising your air guitar as the annual competition will be held on the same night.

Some obvious choices, but that's what you want, right?

"Poison" by Alice Cooper
"The Ace Of Spades" by Motorhead
"Violent Pornography" by System Of A Down
"Fucking Hostile" by Pantera

And, just so my death metal credentials don't go completely out of the window, "Ravenous" by Arch Enemy, but I'll accept Children Of Bodom.

I'd say:

Metallica - Astronomy or Turn the Page
Iron Maiden - The Trooper or Run to the Hills
Dream Theater - Metropolis or Peruvian Skies (live version with Have a Cigar and Enter Sandman riffs is best)
Symphony X - Inferno or Smoke and Mirrors
Opeth - Harvest (or Drapery Falls if time!)
Alice Cooper - Poison (got to be done!)
Beatallica - Hey Dude (classic!)
Black Label Society - Fire it Up, Forever Down or Death March
Any Dragonforce
Extreme - Play with Me, Decadence Dance or Warheads
Faith No More - Epic
Judas Priest - Living after Midnight
Megadeth - Sweating Bullets or Family Tree
Pink Floyd - The Hero's Return
Racer X - Scarified (if any of the DJs have heard of it!)
Rush - Spirit of Radio
System of a Down - Any of them
Tenacious D - I don't think we've had any at rocksoc yet - so some would be good!
Trivium - Pull Harder or Gunshot to the Head of Trepidation
Van Halen - Cheese!!!!!!!

.....and whoa - ive just realise how long that request list is...lol....welll just some ideas....hearing some would be good! lol

Yes I agree 22 Acacia Avenue would rock, and also I forgot about Pantera - Cowboys from Hell or Cemetary Gates would be my choice!

I would say that somewhat typifies the general mood of Rocksoc recently. But you're right - its not just for metal!

BTW entries may also be submitted by e-mailing rocksoc@st-and.ac.uk if you're shy about posting them in public.

1. Alice Cooper - Poison
2. Marilyn Manson - Sweet Dreams
3. Dead Kennedy's - Holiday in Cambodia
4. Sex Pistols - Pretty Vacant
5. Green Day - Holiday
6. The Cure - The Lovecats
7. Faith No More - Be Aggressive
8. Sisters of Mercy - Lucretia My Reflection
9. Siouxsie and the Banshees - Spellbound
10 Zeromancer - Doctor Online

I feel so boring. Oh well...

Edited cos I saw someone else had voted for Zeromancer and I previously had regarded it as wasted vote.

1 B.Y.O.B - System Of A Down
2 Ghost Of Perdition - Opeth
3 Blood And Thunder - Mastodon
4 A Gunshot To The Head Of Trepidation - Trivium
5 Bat Out Of Hell - Meatloaf
6 Pulse Of The Maggots - Slipknot
7 The Hand That Feeds - Nine Inch Nails
8 Aces High - Maiden
9 Blackened - 'Tallica
10 American Idiot - Green Day

Basically my Top 10 songs from this year, a mix of oldies, but mostly new stuff. Also realising that this is mostly unlikely to make the list and be played...unless I DJ...which I am...heh.
