breaking the housing contract...

Postby mondobongo on Thu Sep 27, 2007 3:02 pm

I am desperate to get out of my housing contract. I hate where I live and am miserable there and I'm told there's nothign else available for postgrads. But I keep being told that I will have to pay 10 weeks of rent, even if they find someone to fill my spot, if I leave. Is there any way around this heinous system? Any words of wisdom will be really helpful.

Check your contract, it normally says that you have to give 1 months notice.

Speak to one of these people (in order of preference):
Eleanor Feltham (Accomodation Advocate)
Steve Savage (Director of Representation)
James Shield (SRC Accomdoation Officer)

They can be found on the middle floor of the Union. If not then ask at the General Office and make an appointment.
