Has anyone seen Equilibrium?

Now that's a cool film. The budget could have been a bit bigger and the acting a lil less corny at the end but it is very cool, Matrix meets 1984 style.

'1984' cross ...I always forget how many '..Farenheits', I don't do F, cross 'Welcome to the monkey house'. Not very original, neither the plot nor the visuals.

28 Days Later was really funny, I was watching it with my Belgian/Hungarian flatmate and it was really entertaining to see the whole of the British population being wiped out, except for 3 people. 2 in the alternate ending, both female so can't even reproduce!:-D

cause i'm a real wuss when it comes to seeing scary films, but my boyfriend loves them, so when it was out in the cinema i refused to go see it, and him being a no mates, meant he didn't see it, so i had no choice but to let him rent it (on pain of celibacy - eugh) so i just saw it, tho the poll is maybe one or two weeks old.

28 Days Later isn't scary at all.
I live in a big house in the middle of nowhere.
In Scotland.

Surrounded by woods.

I managed to watch Dog Soldiers by myself, so I figured 28 days later wouldn't be so bad. It was laughable.

Equilibrium was rubbish. Lame plot, with weak script. Decent acting was let down by the poor editing of the fight scenes. Perhaps if the actors had trained in fighting, the scenes would have been a little longer, but as it was, the scenes were cut before you got chance to see what was going on.
And as for a world without emotion? Pah! They were smiling, smirking and grimacing all the way through.

Nonsense.

In the alternative ending, there was no mention of the bloke. Just two women sewing lots of bits of cloth together.

As it happened, the leading female went from being a tough, hard, independent woman to a housekept seamstress, while the bloke just lay in his bed.

I thought it was weird the sign was hello, rather than help or something else, it just struck me as odd. oh and did anyone else have one of those blankets? the one he was lying on in the bed, those pastel stripey ones?

But if Jack Bauer can be running around a mere 3 hours after having a shard of wood straight through his leg, then I don't see any reason why Mark shouldn't be able to do a bit of sewing or washing up...

Jack Bauer is actually indestructable, the nuke could of gone off between his legs and he'd probably still have been after the bad guys with a cell phone strapped to the side of his head.

But good news on that - according to Metro (highly reliable, eh) - apparently in a test the use of a mobile phone actually improved memory abilities but only in men, not women.

Yes, Equilibrium was pretty schlocky... the idea was a rehash of so many things and it did strike me as a bit of a shameless matrix rip-off at times. It was a deriative work but it was pretty cool at some points, although as Oli points out they really had some horrible editting in the fight scenes - jerking that camera around like it was attatched to the wrist of an adolescent boy with a copy of FHM in a bathroom. Not to mention the shear stupidity of making the drug a voluntary dosage and not just doing something sensible like permeating the food, water etc. with it... Still it was funny seeing the Mona Lisa get burnt at the start. Not to mention that this was markedly better than Reign of Fire... though still pretty poor compared to American Psycho.

I LOVED 28 Days Later. I don't like scary movies as a general rule, but rules were made to be broken.

I saw it when it came to St Andrews in November. It's really weird to be back in the States - it comes out in wide release in a week. So no one's seen it!

Now I have to accept the fact that I won't see the alternative ending for a long, long time, given that the DVD will takes ages to come out here.

I suppose I'll have to be contented with getting all my friends and family to go see it next week. Hurrah!

There is hardly any difference between the two endings to be honest. If you can imagine the released ending without any reference to Mark (is his name Mark?), then you've basically got the alternative ending.

Oh - there's a scene where the tough woman looks up from her sewing machine and says "if we're going to make this work, we need to get you fertilised".

The camera changes to a view of a chicken sitting on the table. It's rip-roaringly hilarious. So funny that they decided to leave it on the cutting room floor.

I liked Reign of Fire. It had dragons in it.
And I agree - American Psycho was great. I'm glad the eighties have ended.

When, in the psycotic pastiche after the taxi breakout, you see a lovely hillside with 'HELL' printed in white letters, at first you are confused. "What is this," you wonder, "his mind's conception of where he's heading, or some filmmaker's idea of artistry?" But later, when the plane flies by and the last scrap of fabric is rushed out, you realise it is little more than an aerial shot of where the threesome now resides. 'HELL' is merely a 'HELLO'-in-progress. Genius.

Oh, i really loved reign of fire, a bit cheesy and crap at times, but the general idea (and the dragons) are so my kind of movie!

I thought it was pretty lame, there wasn't enough cheesy action in it! Not to mention that the premise was kind of stupid.

Please, why did they have to kill the thing with a bit of c4 stuck to an arrow?

so i've just heard about the alternattive ending to 28 days later. I've already seen the movie twice in cinemas before the other ending was released. I was wondering if the ending is anywhere on the web. I've searched for it but so far no luck. guess I'll just have to fork over the money to buy the dvd which isn't so bad.

The film is being re-released with the alternative ending in place of the original in American cinemas soon. Tagline: "In a summer of sequels... Watch an original again. Differently."

Sort of makes sense in a sick twisted way.

Quite a good idea, but I can't help feeling that many people will feel somewhat conned by this trick.
