Aw, leave them alone! Its not their fault they have no life/ that they do and everyone is jealous! I still dont understand why everyone hates the Beckhams, its not their fault that everyone is jealous of their money and marital happiness!

The biggest c*nt of all is Mick Hucknall. Can't stand the man/thing/gnome. The day that I saw a picture of him with some ginger hair of his nether regions cheerily poking forth from his shorts was the day that a vital part of me died. Never to be seen again. Bastard.

Don't use c*nt to describe these people.
I'm just in the middle of trying to reclaim that word! Oddly, a man persuaded me to cotninue on his work of reclaiming the word.

If you're trying to reclaim the word why use the star? Surely it just reinforces the stigma surrounding the word.

No offence meant.

Because I don't believe I've fully reached the Admin and the moderators.
But, you're right, Oli, Ben, and Amanda, CUNT is not a bad word anymore.

I don't particularly mind the word, but I understand that many people still find it very offensive.

I found out that my friend's wife really dislikes the word shortly after using it in a joke. I was slapped so hard in the face that I was knocked off my seat (on platform 2 of Huddersfield train station, outside the Head of Steam tavern).

I have been very careful since.

I'm going to reveal what a sheltered life I've had by saying I have never heard this word before, and have no idea what it means. But I take it from the comments made above that it's not nice.

You see, until very recently, I thought a muff was a fluffy single glove thing that old-fashioned posh ladies used to keep their hands warm. Whatever happened to innocence? It won't be long before every word in the english language will have a dodgy alternate meaning, and then how will we have civilised conversations?

As far as i am aware this is the only word that is still banned on british television. I guess this means its the very worst swear word there is?

No it just means that a lot of women (and some men no doubt) think it is rather a vile word and a derogatory sounding one at that. It isn't the nicest sounding word, much like tits, which is why women prefer softer words like the alternative for "cat" and something that ryhmes with "tubes". They are more feminine sounding owrds and thus don't sound like they're something men use to make women feel uncomfortable. Some women couldn't care less but as there are many that do it would be unwise for someone on television to use the word. For example if a soap character used it then no matter whether he was meant to be the nice guy some women would immediately have him down as being a bad guy, someone who thinks they are dominant over women.

Very few words have this effect on so many people and thus to avoid people changing the channel no tv show would use it - the complaints would be huge. Thus it is banned.

There is no "very worst" swear word as it all depends on the context. In the US for example Bono war rapped for saying the word "f*cking" on live tv. He, or rather the channel whop broadcasted it, was let off though after it was decided he meant it in a non-sexual context (because on mainstream tv there sex or naked bodies is bad - obviously?!). Swear words used to be something scandalous but not so much anymore as everyone knows them all and has used them all at some point or another. Even on the bbc, shock horror.

But some overstep the mark, not because they are swear words per say but because they can be perceived as being a sign of male dominance or ignorance and the fact that seeing as so many people don't like it, it's only polite not to say it.

well obviously

'As far as i am aware this is the only word that is still banned on british television. I guess this means its the very worst swear word there is?'

on the same subject, the BBC switchboard was jammed after a show called Living With the Enemy featured Cradle of Filth saying cunt 13 times.
