Going to Glasgow on Saturday and was wondering if anyone could recommend a good after gig club? Original plan was that cathouse but its UNDER 18s only night grr. Can anyone suggest anywhere similar decent rock/punk in the city centre that wont care about jeans and trainers?

its more a bar/club hybrid, but Ubnderworld, just along the road from the cathouse, is a good place. very good looking.

The one saturday ngiht i was in Underworld they were handing out free passes into the Garage.

I will unrecommend Bamboo. it's R'n'B, costs £6, drinks cost a fortune, the ceiling is really low and it's too dark..

The Shack is always funny and the music is usually ok. I hear they've got a new 'room' since I was last there also. Very studenty and refered to, by some, as a meat market! Can't see the negatives personally!!!

The Shack is crap - i went there once cos it was an indie night apparently - this translated to it being so busy upstairs where all the pop crap was playing that you could hardly breathe and in the room where the rock was being played there was like, me, my two friends and another couple of people :-(

At least i think it was the Shack anyway... ^^;;

Fire is not a nice thing.

However, neither was the shack.

And trash is the worst club i have ever been to.

The Cathouse is open from 10.30pm on a saturday night for overs. My sister goes to the unders every week, and they are chucked out at 10pm. The unders probably wont make them much money, so it would just be weird if they werent open later on a saturday night.

The art school is quite good club-wise, you can sign in non-students with yr st andrews card, which is useful.

Dont go to the garage, its for kids and students with no musical taste of their own. And its not as cheap as it used to be.

The Cathouse is as bad as it gets as far as i know - unless you are a goth, moshers etc etc etc. If you are any of these things io wouldn't admit to it on a forum though.

The Art School's drum and bass nights are awesome, my bruv knows one of the DJs which adds to the general greatness of it.

I went to a gig at the Cathouse a while back. The band we went to see were Machin Gun fellatio, and they were as good as their name suggested.

Unless you actually WANTED to see a woman gargle a pint to sing a song in Frnech. and then burp mightily afterwards.

no, i wasn't impressed that much with the venue. the crowd were pretty gothy. just not my scene.

Fire is not a nice thing no, but especially not when combined with the Shack...

Alas! What are us young Glasweigans to do when we want to go to a club where we wont get stabbed (i.e Archaos, destiny, Savoy, Victorias), don't really feel like going somewhere trendy (Art School, subclub), somewhere pretetious (Corinthian, Blue Dog), somewhere Gothy (Cathouse) or want to feel ever so slightly more upmaarket than the Garage, GU, QMU or Strathclyde Union?

It ticked all these boxes, and the music was cheesy, but not that cheesy. (They didn't play novelty songs and Queen quite as much as the Garage)

It wasn't as much of a meat market as others have said. I would go to the Garage (who will be rubbing their hands with glee tonight) if I wanted to pull a heiffer. And my pal worked as a bouncer there, so he's out of a job.

And as for Trash, well it was shit most of the time, but for quite a while it was the only decent place on Tuesdays (the famous T.I.T, Tuesdays in trash).

Aaaah those Tuesdays, full of footballers and loose women. The amount of stories I could sell to the Daily Record about 'married' Rangers players eating the faces off 17-year-olds...

Sorry for this long reply, i'm just still in state of shock..I bet it was an insurance job, trash wasn't doing well.

Looks like i'm stuck with bamboo, but i fucking hate R'n'B

Bamboo sucks.

Anyway Catty is only under 18's till half ten. Good pubs till then include Buddah, The Goose, Crystal Palace (good for cheap drinks i think). Thars a whole bunch of places but make sure to stop at Catty round 11ish, should get good then.

Have fun dude!

Cathouse has went downhill in my opinion. You could try the barfly if there are any gigs on-opposite the river front-or if u just want pub fun-solid rock or rufus t's is good for good old rock!!

The shack was the first club i ever went to and have had many a good nightt here-it will be sorely missed, especially considering I was supposed to be going there next week to meet friends :( RIP indeed!!

I think that the Cathouse is only under 18s until 10 and then it's over 18s at about 11. At least it was in my days! I have to say, nothing beats a good night out like The Garage.

For a good night out head to the Garage. It has enough rooms to cater to everyone's tastes. Enjoy yourself!
