Oh my God England are SHIT!

SHIT SHIT SHIT!

Wanky team full of overpaid tossers, totally crap support and a complete disaster of a manager.

What a total fucking train wreck.

What a great week. I hope you draw France in the playoffs and get FUCKED. Again!
I listen to feminists and all these radical gals - most of them are failures. They've blown it. Some of them have been married, but they married some Casper Milquetoast who asked permission to go to the bathroom. These women just need a man in the house. That's all they need. Most of the feminists need a man to tell them what time of day it is and to lead them home. And they blew it and they're mad at all men. Feminists hate men. They're sexist. They hate men - that's their problem. ~Jerry Falwell

I can't believe England lost - that's how I see it. They had a far superior team full of world class players. Nothern Ireland on the other hand had none. Having said that, I was up cheering and shouting as much as the next Scot!

After the success of Greece in the last championships I would have hoped that more people would understand that individual star players is not the be-all and end-all. Good on Northern Ireland...and as for England moaning about how embarrassing the defeat is, get over yourselves! You were beaten on the day and thats the bottom line, the least you can do is accept defeat with some humility and take your hats off to N.Ireland (And I'll take the exact same stance next time San Marino or Lithuania beat Scotland!)

Yes. Because gloating over the loss/win is absolutely spot-on. Your schadenfreude is utterly holy.

I'm not surprised that the well-known English arrogance has caught up with them. Their media showed Northern Ireland no respect whatsoever (Sky Sports asked Lawrie Sanchez if he'd accept a narrow defeat, to which he obviously said 'no'). England didn't just lose, they were outplayed and out fought and don't appear to have any unity. The FA don't really have any other option but to 'keep the Swede' until his contract expires. England aren't even the best team in Europe, let alone the world and in a play-off, I reckon Scotland could take them.

It is a bit strange that Scotland's win against Norway (who hadn't lost at home in 3 years) was over-looked. Fantastic achievement considering how crap we were under Vogts.

Let's not forget that while we're all part of a United Kingdom, that out of 60 million people, about 50 million are Englanders. Which might possibly be the reason England's sporting accolades and loses are dwelt on more in the media.

I'll never really understand why people get so ecstatic about the loss of a team their side didn't beat... I mean, if you're going to derive self-esteem from someone else's failure, at least have the decency to be responsible for it.

Its called sporting rivalry and in a footballing sense, there is no such thing as the United Kingdom.

So the English don't revel in the defeat of Germany at the hands of another nation? I don't think so. Its excellent when an arrogant, supposedly better nation crashes and burns to a province.

I second that, and what else do us scots have to celebrate? Sporting successes of our own? Ha!

Scotland beating Norway 2-1 in Oslo? Drawing 1-1 with Italy? 4 points against 2 better ranked nations is quite an achievement considering just how embarrasing Scotland were under 'McBerti' but now we're returning to normality.

Well yeah, but for us normality is failing gloriously at the first round of major tournaments so we still aren't going to have much to cheer about!

This victory is fast running into the danger of becoming our own '1966'- the Sports Pundits here won't shut up about it.

Then again it's not often such a victory is granted to a small state, so I suppose they've a right to do so

I just find it rather petulant and childish is all - but then I've low expectations of all of you, so don't feel bad.

Ah its all a bit of fun, the tribal element of team sport is a huge part of the appeal, for me anyway. You get it everywhere, new zealand and the aussies; canada and the US etc. Its mostly in good humour, I'll usually cheer if england lose but its not like it affects me hugely if they win.

Its called rivalry, though I'm sure you wouldn't notice that when viewing through binoculars, complete with rug and flask.
Unless you've been to an international match, you wouldn't understand.
