I want to know a few things:

Where did they all come from? I swear I hadn't seen an emo kid till I came to uni 2 Septembers ago. And Glasgow has changed. Gone are all the skaters. The place is now CRAWLING with emo kids, or "scene" kids.

What defines their "emoness"? I'm going largely on stereotypes here. I mean, I get miserable and I write poetry. But I am not emo. Would I have to wear a pair of Buddy Holly specs? Squeeze my fat arse into tight jeans? Would I have to do that flippy thing with my hair? (Which isn't as cool as you think. 2 words: Phil. Oakey. Google it if you are not sure).

I mean... what differentiates between some dork with a bad haircut who likes to write songs and someone who is emo?

I just can't go on any more. Emo kids make me angry.

Aren't these just the next generation's ode to 'moshers' and boardless skaters? The term emo is a new fad, but mosher, goth and skater have all been relatively synonomous in my experience. Well, skaters obviously skating, but take them out of their skate clothes and see what they wear a other times and then you'd essentially have a mosher/goth.

Nowadays a mosher/goth/type is essentially the same, but with a new name. Emo. I think it makes them think they're the first ones to be like this. Y'see, they've a new name that wasn't there before. Nothing to do with being identical to all the people I knew like that when I was doing my standard grades. Except they've a wider access to web-blogs where they can moan a bit more.

Largely, they're harmless, but at least the neds don't feel they're original.

I like the cry in the dark line Just do what I do, angel: ignore everybody around you unless they bodycheck you... then you can slap them. That's a good way to be. Or you could pull down their Buddy Holly glasses and step on them - if you're really angry! They hardly need them for crying in the dark, right?!?!

I dont see how you can compare emo-kids to terrorists.

I think with your emo-hatred you harbor a facination with the whole scene cause you really would love to be emo yourself and just cant admit. your probably worried too much what people like yourself would think.

Yeah right! And if you read my previous posts you'll see that I don't have a hatred for emo kids, I have a hatred for the word, I was merely commenting on the fact that people do often discuss things that they don't like, so for example people don't like exams, diseases, poverty, etc And when the opportunity arises these things are discussed, it doesn't mean to say we like them. This was in response to someone who said if you don't like them why are you discussing them. Capiche?

Goth kids + grooming = emo kids.

Anyway, don't get confused into thinking that the mass of scenesters you see are emo. They don't write poetry, they aren't depressed and grey is the new black. What differentiates emo and scene, to be fair is difficult to say.

The true glasgow scenesters are elitist, despise emo kids, goths and tend to booze more (minus the straight edge), they listen to, azriel, misery signals, poison the well, bring me the horizon, norma jean, blah blah blah

Emo kids, are well emo, listening to bands like, flood of red, the ocean fracture, funeral for a friend etc. There's a huge amount of crossing about, and to be brutally honest all merges into one big blob known as central station, kelly g, and a variety of city centre lanes.

The only people who are really standing out now are goths, and i don't know where they've disappeared too really.

It's all about the music really, and each city is different when it comes to the scene. To again be honest 2/3rds of the pricks wearing tight jeans in glasgow just pricks following a trend, who have no idea how to two-step.

I now also hate the word scensters. I think my hate of the word emo comes from my hatred of labelling. Why can't we all just be individuals and express ourselves in the way we wish?
