Possibly that they couldn't believe anybody would be stupid enough to make belt buckles for sale in St Andrews from a substance currently trading at over $1,200 an ounce?

i'm confused by a few things:

1) isn't beany, in saying "much like myself", proclaiming his disbelief that ppl would buy such an expensive belt, and NOT stating that he trades at over $1200 an ounce.

2) what does 'shorting' mean? i.e how can i 'short' someone ,and make money from it?'

3) where is the Skeleton key shop going to be? is it actually going to happen this time?

edits: can't get rid of the quoting thing!

Ah i should have guessed: TRADERtalk!

p.s. can it be applied to people, without contravening the 1807 act of slave-trade aboliton? - no need for Wikipedia on that one, i'm pretty sure that's the date!

p.p.s. Has anyone ever referenced wikipedia in an essay before?

edited for spelling.

Don't. Really, just don't. Not unless you want your tutor to shred your essay in front of your eyes right before they kick you out the door. I don't know about other schools, but in IR at least it's completely banned as a source of reference.

I would certainly take a dim view of it. Oh, and don't use WikiPedia and then cite the references from the article instead - we will know.

By "we" I mean your tutors. It's worth bearing in mind that we will tend to have the degree for which you are reading, and will have probably done the relevant reading in order to get it, as well as being familiar with the literature associated with the essay questions, and the WikiPedia entry. It wasn't any kind of threat or big brother-esque statement, just an observation.

Funny that, for a recent essay, my supervisor's words to me were:

"do a quick google on the subject, have a look at what Wikipedia says, then get the journal articles that Wikipedia cites and have a look at those - that's a good place to start, and what every good research student should do"

I was surprised to say the least.

Oh by all means do that - get the journals cited and read them, don't just read the Wiki article and cite the journals as though you had read them. I'd certainly query that last sentence though, possibly what every good undergrad should do, but most certainly not what a good research student should do.

Missed this the first time around, so...

1. You're quite correct. In fact my stock value is worth at least fifty times that amount, so obviously to say that I trade at 'over $1200 an ounce', would be a truism. :P

2. In light of the explanation, I refuse to be short-sold at any price. And I'm fairly certain the Human Rights Act would have something to say about that, as well (but don't worry, the Conservatives will abolish that when we get in power, so you'll just have to wait a while).

3. No, no it's not.

It'll be in the same place as the new nightclub that no-one has heard about. I've heard that Mark Skeleton Key will have a small concession stand selling his platinum belt buckles inside the club.

Am I the only one opening this thread in anticipation every time I see there is a new post, only to be disappointed yet again by it not being Mark posting that Skeleton Key will finally grace Market Street with its presence?

people sorry it has taken so long. I have excellent news though. Seems like there is a shop closing down on south st and we have got to go ahead to get this party started. What I will say is this : we will only offer the hghest quality materials in whatever we sell. we have some new really exciting products, socks, jogging pants and other clothing. we have scaled back our belt buckle stuff since we made a loss on that in our brighton shop. no problems though, there still will be belt buckles just not those made out of the more exotic materials. there will still be cd's and vinyl.

hope everyone is ready as this shit is going DOWN
