I don't think we need terribly to empathise with a disturbed magistrand who graduated a year and a half ago.

I wish to hear more of this flirtation...

I'm equally inclined to agree with both parties here -- on the one hand this shouldnt happen to a final year studying for their disertation, on the other hand such acts add to the general bizarity and character of living in a hall -- and especially a place like New Hall. The thing is: NH is by far large enough to house both camps if the residence assignment people had done their jobs properly and put first years with first years, seconds with seconds, thirds with thirds, and fourths with fourths and so on. Annexes for postgrads and final years, a la John Burnett only for postgrads and final years, are also a good idea in my opinion. No one who doesn't bargain for this kind of thing should have to endure it.

In any case, just be very very glad you dont live in uni hall. The sensation of being brutally arseraped by the institutional bureaucracy of a system which is completely ambivalent to your most basic of personal needs can not be an easy sensation to bare.

Or be thankful your hall isn't about to be demolished.

Daniel

Interesting theory. Be careful! We don't want you tearing your trousers on that fence!

Sadly, I've heard that McIntosh has got rather indisciplined this year. Perhaps Jennifer's much approach of hanging and flogging perpetrators wasn't so OTT after all!

Now some people weren't happy about the content of that last post. And we can't have someone not happy. Not on the internet.

Ahhh I can always rely on you eh BA? or should I call you D***? ;)

The happy days of New Hall - don't know why anyone felt the need to bring this thread up again given it was over 18 months ago now.

And the person who back in 06 said I always had something to moan about clearly didn't know me.....don't let reality get in the way of your little bubble world eh?

Anyhow....over the 4 yrs I grew to love New Hall but my final year there seemed to be a lot of pain in the arses living there - incidentally I lived in a corridor with first years and that was never a problem it was always the tossers passing through the corridor and throwing up outside our rooms that were the problem.

My fave New Hall moment without doubt was the random fruit/veg distributer.....those were the days.....

Disturbed magistrand? Are you on drugs? Loony is now pursuing a glittering career in politics, after attaining a fabulous degree from St Andrews.

She is one of the loveliest people I have ever known. I don't know why this thread was dredged up either, what sad people are about, and I don't know why B.A felt the need to be so unpleasant either.

Disturbed magistrand?

A fourth year student whose work/sleep was disrupted.

Are you on drugs?

Caffeine and alcohol.

Loony is now pursuing a glittering career in politics, after attaining a fabulous degree from St Andrews.

Lies.

I don't know why B.A felt the need to be so unpleasant either.

I think, 'Kate', that by 'disturbed' he meant 'having been woken up in the middle of the night', not 'mentally deranged', and that there wasn't anything unpleasant about his post at all. :P

I find that to be kind of the sign of the times this year. I don't know if it's one big group of tossers, of if there are lots of little immature "pranksters" (I use the term loosely, because pranks are funny, these are too childish for my 5 year old cousins), but the whole thing just sums up why I'm going into flats next year.

In my experience, pranks are never funny.

Haha. What a fag. I remember in first year I used to always steal peoples pizzas after nights out. If you expect your food to be safe in hall, think again.

I used to smear various unpleasant substances on pizzas and leave them to be found. Seriously, I even urinated in the milk once, must have made some fine tea for whoever stole it.
