So fundamentalists Islamists attempt mass murder then suicide for no reason whatsoever?

Care to tell me of when France and Germany have had incidents like this, despite having sizeable Islamic communities?

I heard that on the radio when I was out in the car on Saturday evening. It's complete crap, as if any terrorist hellbent on destruction would either know nor care about the difference.

Walk into the bright lights of sorrow, oh drink a bit of wine and we both might go tommorow, my love...

Didn't germany arrest a bunch of people for terrorist plots or something relatively recently? (The problem is, all these things start to blend together after a while)

Unknown author, found on facebook, hilarious.

'Twas doon by the inch o' Abbots
Oor Johnny walked one day
When he saw a sicht that troubled him
Far more that he could say
A fanatic muslim bastard
Wiz doin what he'd planned
And intae Glesca's departure hall
A Cherokee he'd rammed.

A big Glaswegian polis
Came forward tae assist
He thocht "a wumman driver"
Or at least someone half-pissed
But to his shock nae drunken Jock
Emerged to grasp his hand
But a flamin' Arab loony
Frae Al Qaeda's band

The mad Islamist nut-case
Had set hissel' on fire
And swung oot at the polis
GBH his clear desire
Now that's no richt wur Johnny cried
And sallied tae the fray
A left hook and a heid butt
Required tae save the day.

Now listen up Bin Laden
Yir sort's nae wanted here
For imported English radicals
Us Scoatsman huv nae fear
Oor hame grown Glesca Asians
Will have nae bluidy truck
So take yer worldwide Jihad
An get yersel tae F***

In 1995, an Islamist militant group staged a series of attacks against the French public, targeting public transportation. These attacks killed 8 and injured more than 100.

In 1999 the Strasbourg Cathedral bombing plot was thwarted. It a plan to bomb the Christmas market (Marché de Noël) at the feet of Strasbourg Cathedral during the Christmas celebrations.

In 2001 a plot to destroy the United States embassy in Paris, France was exposed. Tunisian Nizar Trabelsi, a former professional football player in Germany, planned the attack and was the designated suicide bomber.

On July 31, 2006, two people, Youssef Mohamad El Hajdib and Jihad Hamad, placed two suitcases filled with bombs on regional trains in Germany. The bombs were supposed to go off near Hamm and KoblenzHowever, due to faulty construction, the bombs did not go off.

Fox News are going a bit OMG!Sensationalist!...
The responses on the BBC seem very understated and, well, British.

You know why that was, right?
Because the BBC were still looking at their Atlases, saying "Glasgow... Glasgow... that's somewhere North, right? In that place... what's it called? Glasgow's a section of that town... Scotland... Holy Shmolly, how the hell will we get a reporter up there? Can humans survive that far north and away from civilisation?! It can't be that bad. Make the news sound understated, there's nothing worthwhile up there anyway."

Sounds more like what the Yanks would be saying than the BBC...

Funky flunky munky...
So someone asked me "What is it you do?". I thought about it for a minute. Then I thought about it a little more. All the while I probably looked like I was staring in to space, struggling for an answer. And I was. There was only one response I could really give.

"I make sure the shit stays off the fan."

On the contrary, that's what the BBC would be saying if it happened anywhere north of Glasgow or Edinburgh... the Scottish news doesn't tend to cover much above the Central Belt.

Of course, quite why anyone would bother bombing anything north of Glasgow or Edinburgh is another matter. It seems funny to think they've had to "heighten security" at the airfield on my little Orkney island of 500 people (where one of the eight passengers sits next to the copilot and everyone carries their own luggage on).
