Student arrested on North Street

Postby Guest on Fri Dec 07, 2007 1:39 pm

I saw a student wearing a red gown, in handcuffs, being searched by Police outside the station on North Street about 2 hours ago. The officer searching him found something and handed it to his colleague - drugs? He was then bundled into the back of a police van. Does anyone know what happened?

I can't think of an incidence where someone who isn't one of the police is put in a police vehicle without being bundled.

An odd thing...

Why would he be bundled into a van outside the station? Surely that'd be where he'd be bundled out?

So the student had drugs in their pocket after being in the police station?

On a vaguely related subject, does anyone know what happened in the physics building yesterday (or was it Wednesday?) that involved an alarm going off and a fire engine hurtling towards the place? I only heard it from outside while walking past, but saw the fire engine and was curious!

It went off twice in a row actually, the second time was just as we were going back in. I think it was another false alarm, as with most of the alarms. The fire brigade hurtled there because they have no choice in responding. Being there, I cannot actually remember seeing a fire engine.

It was just a faulty sensor in Room 116 - one of the ones that's currently being refurbished. They had a blokey in to fix it today, which set it off again...

I know that 2 girls were taken from Haig with drink related incidents.

And there were 3 ambulances at various times outside Haig, you probably saw one of them.

No there were several visits by the ambulance service to Scott. They were unrelated to drink but related to a chronic medical condition of the recipient.

I assume you're not trying to say I was talking rubbish, because trust me, I know why there were ambulances at Haig better than you do, guaranteed.

How can you guarantee that you know something better than another? Let us even assume that you were one of the people who the ambulances were attending and let us also assume that the other person in question witnessed the entire incedent first hand. Now, would you suggest that you would know why the ambulances were there better than they?

I would suggest not, in such a case both parties would have equal knowledge of the event occuring.

In this particular case though, it sounds to me like both of you know more about a altogether different case than the other person.

To be fair, the fire brigade takes considerably longer to respond to an alarm the second, third, and fourth time around in a day, unless they haven't fully gotten back to the station by the time the next alarm goes off.

You know these sort of things if you live in Uni Hall this year.....

The University has also stated (on record!) that it finds the situation perfectly acceptable.
