Bop Tonight

Postby schmod on Fri May 23, 2008 1:20 am

I suppose it's worth mentioning that there will indeed be a Bop tonight.

Feel free to post your requests (and complaints) below.

Is this the final bop of the year?

Ooh, I'd like to see a bit of any of the following:
Scissor Sisters
Electric Six
Patrick Wolf

...or the Macarena. Just because.
Ok, I'm GTFO-ing now. Heh.

There's also a "silent disco", RAVEsoc vs Bop! style on tuesday. £3.50, includes wireless headphones.

If you're going in support of RAVEsoc wear white to glow under their UV lights.

The Bop was pretty good tonight. Loving Cotton-Eye Joe and the Time Warp!

Good to hear that there were some not-played-every-bop-every-week-for-the-last-6-years songs to enjoy.

Haha. Thanks I guess?

Given that it's (almost) the final week, I was actually aiming for an all-out cheese-fest. Instead, I ended up playing lots of 80s/90s, because that's what the crowd seemed to enjoy the most, and because I hadn't slept for 36 hours due to revision, and it seemed like a good idea at the time ;-)

Anything you want to hear on Friday that we've overlooked this year?

Since I am graduating this year it would be cool to hear some songs that were big bop songs in my first and second year when I went regualarly. The one that really stood out was Mr Brightside - but NOT the remix version.

Might get shot down for this, but I miss the days of 'final countdown', 'living on a prayer', '500 miles' and 'bat out of hell'...stuff you can yell along to and jump around to....

Since next Friday is my last bop *ever* I second Han. Those songs are def dancing faves and I associate them all with the St A bop. I'm ridicuously looking forward to next week:D Going to drink pink champagne, wear some cool shoes, jump up and down and think 'wow, I'm a great dancer' after a few too many . . . will be ace!

I don't know about missed ones this year, on account of how rarely I'm at the bop, but any of these would be nice.

Jean-Michel Jarre - Teo&Tea
Eiffel 65 - My Console, or All I Really Want (feat Kim Lucas), or their cover of You Spin Me Right Round, or Europop [So that's NOT Blue or Move your body, they've done 4+ albums you know]

But I'd settle for (because theres 0% of those making it)

Verka Serduchka - Dancing Lasha Tumbai sometime near the end.

Done and done. That's exactly the sort of stuff we're aiming to do for the final night.

We try to hold back on a few of the "old favorites" to avoid pounding them into the ground during the semester (most notably, that one tune by those twins from Auchtermuchty).

Keep 'em coming.

(PS: Kudos for suggesting that Eiffel 65 cover. That one's new to me!)

Theres loads of covers of it, but the original Dead or Alive version, the Gigi D'agostino cover and the Eiffel 65 cover are the best ones.

If you play Gigi D'agostino, then my vote would be for L'Amour Toujours or The Riddle.

Now my Gigi playlists have lead to me listening to How Much Is The Fish by Scooter.

because RaveSoc's UVs will over power the UV Canons already in V1?

Talking of lights, what one earth are those big blindingly white light arrays doing behind the DJ stand?

Its like going to a Redneck disco lit by trucks.
