Hi everyone, and welcome to the University of St Andrews Poker Society forum. Members and non-members alike are welcome to discuss any topic relevent to the society or its members, as well as general poker chat. Keep in mind the rules of the messageboards and be nice! Also, if you are not registered on the site, it makes it a lot easier for everyone if you register (only takes a few seconds).

About Us

Poker soc is open to every University student, regardless of ability. Tournaments are held every Monday at 7pm in the Salad Bowl, on the second floor of the student union. Registration starts at 6:30, but as long as you're there before 7 you should be fine. We play a large range of tournaments, ranging from £5 rebuy No Limit Hold 'em events, to £10 Omaha Freezeouts. We sometimes play special tournaments like Eliminators, Shootouts, or Heads Up tournaments. If you are unsure about the rules of a particular tournament, or are just unsure about the rules of poker in general, come along a little early and one of the friendly committee members will teach you. There is often a cash game going on after 10pm as well. Membership for the year is £3, and £2 for one semester. In addition to the weekly tournaments, being a member of Poker Soc gives you other priviledges - the UK Student Poker Championships (UKSPC) is the first and most prestigious national student poker tournament, and is held every April in Birmingham, created and organised by our Poker Soc. Entry is only £33 and the society will pay for your accommodation costs. The main prize is £1000 PLUS a ticket to the World Series of Poker Main Event, worth $10,000. As well as the UKSPC, there is the USAPS, a tournament held every May with a £50 buy in and open to all current and previous members of poker soc - one of the highlights of the year.
