mine was at school.

I took As-Level maths, and worked my ass off, still managed to fail: 3 U's (ungraded) in pure maths, mechanics, and stats. When i retook i got a B,D and U, which luckily rounded out to a D, and st andrews took me here cause I had applied for 1 of the two subjects that actually had clearing spaces that year.

Oh, Doug, do you have to? That's not what I needed to see first thing in the morning. D:

Ah my worst academic moment. No doubt in my mind about this one. My AS levels. I was the first year group to go through the AS levels, and I failed every one of them. I'd just done my GCSEs, managed to get 10 A's or A*s, so I was feeling confident. Opened the letter. The sudden and astonishing realisation that being intoxicated in my exams really wasn't such a great idea. A wave of nausea and waves of sweat pouring forth from my forehead. The realisation that my mother was waiting outside and there was no escape - I was going to have to report my great attainment (F U U U) and show her the paper work. The painful telephone calls from the Aunties. Hushed tones and whispered messages. And then the terrifying moment of my father's return from work...

Thankfully, I already had my place at university to study for a nursing degree. So it wasn't a disaster in the long run. Now, like 8 years after I should've sat my 'A' levels, and having done well on the academic front since, I've still got a complex about failing my 'A' levels, so I'm thinking of registering for the exams. :)

But they're easier now ;)

I wouldn't bother. They'll be largely irrelevant to anything else in your life, and the addling years of forced schooling which support them will have left you far behind. Better to spend the money and time on a professional qualification, or failing that, a case of scotch.

I'm all for personal betterment, and if you need to do this, then you need to do it. But you've got nothing to prove, and a few exams designed to be taken by wondereyed seventeen year-olds wouldn't prove it to anyone I know.

I figured it'd just be something mundane like a rickroll. :(

I've just realised Doug's location on his profile may be a subtle nod to Manny in Black Books. Good show.

I can only assume that the powers that be deleted it. I knew that would happen, but also thought it was funny enough to do anyway.

Receiving an offer to transfer to St Andrews full-time, and declining it. Oops.

New one to top it all. Being told I had to take a leave of absence today.

that sucks - but maybe a timeout will help you? A know a few people who definately came back stronger after a break.

my latest bad moment was getting into a vicious argument about where a bank slope ended. Whilst shivering in the rain clutching a sodden clipboard. And then I just wanted to burst into tears (y'know, just when you want to be strong and stoic . . . *headthunk*).
