To think that they've replaced classics like Fraggle Rock, Count Duckula, Bucky O'Hare & The Smurfs with crap like "The Teletubbies" and Pokemon!

Oooooh that website makes me feel all warm and fuzzy all over. It pains me to think that the kids of today are deprived so many lovely classics which I adored as a child. The stuff on t.v. these days is charmless garbage. I wish they'd re-show all the programs we loved. I'd watch them just for the happy memories! Although, when I do see clips of these programs, I'm often shocked at how crappy the animation looks now. I don't remember it being so dodgy. But it cheers me up to see it non the less.

My favourites were "My Little Pony", "The Gummie Bears", Teddy Ruxpin, and "The Care Bears". Oh to relive those days. I wish I could see some of them again.

*Sigh* ah the memories!!! I love Thundercats and I can't believe what shite young kids watch now!!! Am quite impressed with the vocab in the cartoons though! Watched a thundercats on a m8s laptop and MumRa used words like regenerate and compromise!!! I swear I couldnt understand words like that when I was 6! (though I may have just been a slow learner!) Now all kids are getting is bloody Eho and bollocks! No wonder they're screwed up!!! Bring back the cool quality of 80s!!!! Oooh! Also like Will o' Wisp (or summit like that!) WIth the evil TV hag and the over weight toothfairy with blue hair, wot was her name again?

Aha! The PROGRAMS shown toay may use simplistic vocabulary, even though I'ld disagree with that esp. with all the technical jargon involved, but kids BOOKS are getting more advanced. One boring Sunday afternoon during the holidays I read my little sisters Jacqueline Wilson book, the title I can't remember, and there were some complex words in there. Which just goes to show that kids that read books shall have a clear advantage over those that watch TV all day in terms of vocabulary and imagination, and this shall be the case for a long time.

I can't believe I just spent half an hour (and still going strong...) listening to 80s cartoon themes! *wipes a sentimental tear from her eye* Such a lovely stroll down memory lane. The really scary part was when I realised that I still know pretty much all the words to most of the theme songs. I didn't watch too much TV as a child, oh no, not at all...What a great site!! And I don't suppose anyone else remembers David the Gnome?

I really wish they'd put this stuff back on the air. Or at least put it on video so that people can get ahold of it.

Does anyone remember a cartoon called the Smoggies? Used to be on early on a Saturday and was about lots of very eco-friendly sweet little people living on an island, the other half of which was inhabited by a couple of scary, polluting types. I've been asking people for years and no one remembers it! I swear I didn't make it up! I'd love to see another episode of it.

Ah the memories! ^_^ I even used to get up early on Saturday and Sunday mornings just to watch cartoons with my brother...not that i watched a lot of TV or anything ^_-

Sounds a bit like Captain planet only better. Out of curiousity did this cartoon involve little stocky people with multi-coloured afros. And was there a big dumb guy, an old captain and a scary 'Cruella Devill'-like skinny woman?

Thanks so much for that link, I found a cartoon that's been driving me mad for years! It was called "The Wuzzles" and was about these hybrid creatures, like Bumblelion, a cross between a bee and a lion. It's much cuter than it sounds, trust me! I had a teddy bear of Butterbear, ah the memories!

I completely forgot about The Wuzzles!! I used to have a Bumblelion teddybear only my brat of a brother stuck him in the fire and burnt off his antennae! He was never the same again!

The fairy in Will o' the Wisp (voiced by the legendary Kenneth Williams) was called Mavis Cruet (sp?). The TV witch was called Evil Edna, which I recall became a popular nickname for nasty old lady school teachers for a time.

No need to worry, Sabra - I also remember the smoggies. Wasn't it set on a planet and they had some sort of split around the equator which looked like a giant band of smog or something?

I vaguely remember some episodes with characters being (amongst other things) a thundercloud.
