Wasps. Its more of a phobia than a fear - completely irrational. If a wasp goes near me I will swing my fists / scream / then tense ever muscle in my body and hyperventilate. I usually injure my self far more in these actions than any wasp ever could.

Phobias are such strange things.

I'm the same with wasps, and to a lesser extent, bees.

I take it they're found reasonably far south in England? I've got this image in my head of huge spiders being stopped at Hadrian's Wall by some sort of special patrol, possibly the A Team.

What an image! I can just imagine the Spider Police - stopping all the immigrant spiders crossing the border.

I read something about Jumping Spiders as well. Apparently, they're very curious...

I used to think the only thing I was afraid of were earwigs. I like other creepy crawly things, I really do... until one day I happened upon one of THESE lurking under a bridge:

it twitched its massive jaws at me and I ran away

In relation to what I said earlier, this bloomin' terrifies me!

Because the retina is the darkest part of the eye and it moves around, one can sometimes look into the eye of a jumping spider and see it changing color. When it is darkest, you are looking into its retina and the spider is looking straight at you.

I'm gonna get one of 'em and call it Abyss! :) Y'know, to give me a good bit of terror now and again...

I guess someone could wheel you to the party in a coffin. Then you start screaming and banging on it. Something like that? It would probably terrify everyone, but it would be a unique idea. No-one else would come trapped in a coffin.

Wasps - I do the same arm flapping, hyperventilating trick as above.

Groups of neds.

Small spaces with water in them.

I'm okay with small spaces if there's no water. And having just read this thread, a litle piece of paper fluttered off my desk and I nearly wet myself in case it was a spider/bug.

I'm also terrified of this chicken we have at home called Shane. But that's more because he attacks you when you walk near him than a fear of chickens called Shane.

We had Huntsman spiders where we were in Australia. I woke up with a 6" one about two feet away from me on my wall, which is quite scary when you're seven. Not as bad as my dad waking up with a 5" one crawling over his face. I wish I was there to see that...

[hr]

...but then again, that is only my opinion.
