Why all the hatred? Mrs Ross is only trying to do everyone a good turn. No really, she is. Imagine for a minute that I'm walking down Market Street and happen to notice that your flat is on fire. And I know you're asleep inside. Do I walk quietly past, careful not to wake you in case I upset you? No, I make sure you know the danger you're in.

So if there really is eternal judgement for all who do not trust the Lord Jesus Christ as Saviour (as stated in the Bible), and if the only way to avoid that judgement is through turning from our wrongdoing and trusting in the Lord Jesus Christ (as stated in the Bible), then is she not doing you all a favour by telling you? Is it maybe time to listen to what she has to say?

While religion is responsible for the most horrific examples of man's inhumanity to man, I really doubt we can lay all that at the door of Mrs Ross. She is a St. Andrews character and the town is richer for the benefit. The reason many people have fought and died in Europe over the centuries was for the right for people like Mrs Ross to have religious freedom and freedom of speech. If she says something that you find offensive, well then you are probably doing something that she finds offensive. The difference between toleration and acceptance is an important one that is central to manners, those things which oil the cogs of society. She doesn't preach hate against gay people and other sinners, rather she is trying - in a hamfisted manner - to save as many people as possible in the only way she sees as possible. Which, even if you don't believe in or agree with her message, is kind of sweet of her.

Of course Mrs Ross is as close to bein a fundamental Christian as we are likely to get in St. Andrews, but she is also a harmless old lady and does not deserve this vitriol.

The best way to deel with Mrs Ross is to take the flyer, smile nicely and then bin it later. This is what I have done and got no problems from her. What I cant stand is people who start verbally and physically harasing her. Its not big and its not funny. As the above poster said shes a harmless old lady. You may not agree with what she is saying so in that case just say no thanks and leave it at that.

It's only Physcologically damaging to those how have not made up there own mind as to religion. Those wit hthis problem are however more likely to listento what she says rather than those of us who have chosen all ready to be atheist. We can only hope that those who do listen see the error of there ways.
